Partnerships:

Leah Okeyo from Kenya.  Executive Director of the Kenyan Peace Train. Leah is an international speaker and leader in her community. She lives in Migori and is heading the efforts to bring the micro finance program into rural Kenya and expand the reach of the Kenyan Peace Train. Our goal in working with Leah is to deliver the necessary resources in order to establish the first sustainable community run 100% by locals.

Consolata the visionary and creator of Woman's Hope, a free magazine published and distributed in Nairobi. The Magazine focuses on women's struggles and accomplishments in Kenya today.  Consolata lives in Nairobi and I was equally as fortunate to meet her and be exposed to some of her work at the grass roots with women in the slums.  Global Peace Train spent a short period of time in the slums with Leah, Consolata and about 25 women and their children.  We discussed micro business and micro loans for the women to start their own micro enterprises.  Consolata will be trained to lead the micro finance program for the women in the Kiwanda Slum and will be running the pilot program alongside Leah.

Karen Sugar is the executive Director of Women's Global Empowerment Fund.  Their Mission is to reach poor and underprivileged women around the world through micro finance loans and education programs creating opportunities while strengthening families and communities.  She has implemented her program in Uganda and had great success. Karen will consult Global Peace Train and the leaders on the ground in Kenya She will lead us through the pilot program, and work with us to create a system that can be retrofit to any community internationally.  www.wefund.org
